Whilst experimenting with media and techniques in my project sketchbook, I created a minute continuous line drawing inspired by a leaves bush. I like the freedom of the hand drawn expression which has come up a lot in my research for this project. I think this could work as a developed CAD repeat.

Abstract patterns
I wanted to create something abstract incorporating patterns
I have used before and leaf skeletons. I hand drew an abstract design of a leaf
skeleton I had researched into, using brief outline shapes. This is a very
heavy patterned design that I will develop into Photoshop adding blocks of
colour, This would look good on jersey fabric for an end use t shirt.
Section from zig zag design
I originally hand drew sections of the zig zag and put it
into repeat using Photoshop for an all over design. I added dots around the
outline as dots are in my African inspired visual research. I played around
with white and black outline but the white separated the design too much and
the back made it stand.
Geometric patterned circle
I collected inspiration for this by researching into Yinka Shonbibare designs, garments and pieces of art. I like the idea of putting patterns into motifs or shapes. I believe these have worked really well, and will looked good scanned into CAD and filled with block colour and repeated.
Patterned leafs
I wanted to incorporate leafs and patterns together to develop
my project. I hand drew the same sized leaf shapes and filled them in using
patterns I have researched from my research file. I shall scan this onto
Photoshop and using the fill tool I will add colours from my colour palette to
create blocked bright colours.
Abstract geometrics
I found real inspiration in the leaf skeleton photography
that I discovered during my research, as the leaves displayed a structured pattern
that I found pleasing to the eye. Instead of using the photographs however, I
decided to hand draw with bold pens to create a more hand-made African feel.
Marble leaf structure
Using one of my nail varnish marbling pieces scanned into Photoshop,
I created some abstract textured all-over prints. I really like the texture
that the leaf skeleton creates and how the use of black really makes the motif
pop.
